Montana Aviation Conference

Those who made it this weekend know what a great time it was. There were a lot of good seminars. MTV gave several excellent talks, as did the other speakers. Seems like the seminars that dealt with flying to or in Alaska were the best attended. Dick Rutan was the speaker on Saturday night, although I did not make it due to prior commitments.

I heard some of the Montana Antiquers almost got in a fist fight. Did you get in on any of that?

I heard the story Monday at coffee. It boils down to the Antiquers are, plain and simple, nuts. It had to do with the election of the new secretary. The powers that be were told the current office holder, from BZN I believe, didn't want to do it anymore. They couldn't find anyone to do it until they literally begged another woman who agreed to do it. Turns out the original woman never wanted to step down in the first place. Apparently once you're on the ballot you cannot be removed. Original woman gets herself on the ballot and then at the election the new woman wins. New woman says let the old one do it, I never really wanted it in the first place. The Antiquer muckety mucks say too late, the people have spoken. Then husband of original secretary picks fight with husband of new secretary. No punches thrown but the entire Antiquer organization basically shows they're a bunch of children. They've been squabbling for years, as if being an officer in the organization somehow means you're anything relevant. From the sidelines it's great theater.

 That's hillarious.... when Wanda and Allen wanted to step down, they ran me in as Pres...and Cindy said she'd be secretary for a year, as nobody else wanted the job... she did a great job, but there were a few that wanted all the control of the organization without any of the work (and I don't "do" the puppet thing)...so I got out...all the way out.... Cindy stayed in and has done a great job from what I can tell (against some pretty steep odds at times!!). I don't blame her for wanting out, as the "politics" in that group are unbelieveable!! It's always a big power struggle, and you're right, there are a few that want the bragging rights for whatever reason. Steve and Cindy are great people and alot of others that are in there are great as well..but just a few can make it miserable for everyone.... just one more reason that my dues aren't headed that direction anymore.
