Montana,Idaho Eastern Oregon courtesy cars

HI all, I will be heading east next week from the chelan area. I'm looking for suggestions on places to see.I like small airports with a courtesy car and maybe a pilot lounge.I will be camping with my plane. I have no planned route or set agenda, just want to see some country. I'm thinking north idaho to eastern montana, south montana, south idaho, eastern oregon,I really enjoy a courtesy car to check out the small towns and grab a bite to eat. Did Bonners Ferry, St. Maries, Electric City a few days ago. Some beautiful country over there in Idaho.

Grangeville is a bit further south, has a car or two, is pretty close to town, and the backwoods of Idaho. Oh, and fuel that is $5.45 (as of 8/7)

I was in Polson Mt last week and great FBO with 3 cars available. Very cool small town right on the south end of Flathead Lake. Museum that looked interesting but time didnt allow me to check it out. Hamilton Mt is also cool with cars available.

Polson also has a shower in the FBO, free for use. They also have an apartment with the whole works; bathroom, kitchen, etc. they rent out for $50/night(check on availability)... You can park your airplane in the grass on the southeast side and pitch a tent if you like as well.

If you stop by look us up. We manufacturer single engine Cessna composite fairings and the Sportsman STOL. Always fun to show people what we hermits are doing in the back corner of the airport through the year.

Winifred, MT is just north of the Missouri River Breaks, where there is some great sightseeing. Several remote strips in the Breaks just north of Winifred. those strips are all dry camps and remote, but good strips. Winifred has no courtesy car, but showers at the town pool are easy walking distance, as are two bars and a cafe. Gas is available as well.

It's in just about the geographic center of Montana.

Lots of other great places in Montana as well--most of the airports in MT have courtesy cars, courtesy of MT Aeronautics. Campground at Bozeman for airplane camping.

Lots of others.

We overnighted at the polson airport in June of '08..they had two vans, the shower, a freezer, and computer to check the BCP website. Set up our tents just to the SE of the ramp. Some good places in town to eat. The only thing I didn't like about the place.....at 10PM it was still too light to go to bed.

Give us a call before you get here and we will make sure you have a courtesy car...feel free to park in the hangar..plenty of room. If the weather is good and time permits, Il'l go with you on the local Breaks tour. Ralph 406 462-5487 (Winifred, MT)
