I could watch these all day long. Minute 4 has some real magic, with fast pans. I want to know how they pulled those off. Make sure you go full screen.

That was amazing. My guess would be that the camera was vehicle mounted and had frequent stops for pictures (did u notice the lights reflecting off of the trees? I don't know, but any of these time lapses require a patience that I haven't mastered yet.

And a lot of patience during the editing process.

Good find!

The grandeur and beauty of our planet is so uplifting in a primeval way. Makes me want to stand outside in a storm, or just lay down under a summer sun and watch clouds, or go flying so I can feel like its all mine. Thanks for the post Zzz.

Re: More amazing time lapse: Yosemite

Beautiful! Very dreamy.

One thing I miss are meteor showers that are so clearly seen in the California Sky, especially when forecasted. Certain times of the year the earth passes through belts of small rocks that light up the sky. Looks like Sky rockets.

I can tell the North Star because it will not move in time lapse photography.

But, my favorite astronomical window is from the Southern Hemisphere. South Cross constellation is hard to forget.

Re: More amazing time lapse: Yosemite

About 10 years ago sailing to Molokai from Honolulu we saw a HUGE meteor explode over the channel. It was bright enough that serval people called the USCG thinking it was some type of disaster.

When sailing in the tropics I am on deck 90% of the time and we see a surprising amount of meteors that go unrecorded. There is nothing to do except stare at the sky for hours. And in the old days take a star shot with the sextant and get out the HO249 book (air tables).

Re: More amazing time lapse: Yosemite

Given the time lapse nature of this film, the light streaks across the sky are probably commercial aircraft, not meteors. Meteors wouldn't even show up given the film rate of this time lapse recording. Still, this was pretty amazing. I saw several places I'd like to try and land, and a lot of places I'd hate to lose an engine over. This valley really is a gem. Years ago, I was lucky enough to fly my hang glider off of Glacier Point. It was just a sled ride to the valley below, but what a sled ride it was! I've done a lot of motorcycle camping in the unimproved areas of Yosemite, back towards Mono Lake, and I've done some bouldering in the park, but the big wall climbing was always out of my league. I get sewing machine legs when there is any appreciable exposure. Strange that flying doesn't bother me. Thanks for posting this.

Very nice find. Great video. I agree with Flyhound, the streaks were either air traffic or possibly even satellites. I know we see a lot of satellites going over up here if you take the time to watch the sky.

I know the difference between lighted aircraft, satellites, space stations and meteors! Yosemite has a "thousand" commercial jet liners fly over it every year. The contrails and lights (night) are recognizable for sure during the above video. Satellites are very easy to recognize too. And like I mentioned in the previous post North Star has no relative motion.

My meteor stories ...Just a little thread drift about what I personally see in the sky that truly amazes me at night. In fact last night about 09:00PM HST, I was checking out the surf at Hawaii Kai boat ramp and a very interesting meteor was spotted over KoKo Head Crater. It turned different colors as it exploded. I spend a lot of time outside at night. I can never believe how much "stuff" enters the earths atmosphere.

The video clearly shows aircraft "zooming" by which makes me agree with comments. I apologize for being unclear and the unsuspecting "thread drift"!

I tried it once. Made it 4 pitches up out of the 34 required to do the nose. The panic attacks started 15 feet off the deck and by the time I made it 300ft up I couldn't take it - nearly pissed my britches thinking about what the great roof would be like with 2000' of air beneath me. I guess I'm just a boulderer - I like to play on the little rocks.

I liked that in a couple of the shots you could see the airway being used as repeated planes flew the same route.

The fast traveling air traffic was very predictable and clearly shown. Good video recording.

Some of the STARs for SFO come directly over Yosemite, then over my house. You seem them one right after the other.
