Moving the ski ramp

I moved my 4200 lb ski ramp, built so I could simply go straight out the hangar when on skis. My first season with this setup, and while the learning curve was a little steep (ha ha) once I got the hang of it it was a WHOLE lot less work then tyring to keep my regular summertime strip plowed. You don't see any dents in the hangar door, and that was the real trick, keeping speed back up the ramp, without ending up In the hangar, with the door still closed. I didn't want to look at it all summer, plus it was taking up space in the transient aircraft area.

It took about 20 minutes to rig it, including undoing the two bolts that hold the top end to some concrete pillars. I already knew the weight, and looking at my cranes load chart knew I would need to make a move before the second pick. The first time I put it 80' away, and the second time another 75', where it will ride out the summer, out of sight behind an outbuilding. I had the crane home for some maintenance, so no big deal.

Looks like a solar panel on the crane. It must be pretty tough to handle the rough ride going down the road. Looks like you have a nice rig.

Speaking of transients..... How's your strip? Weather looks stellar in a few days.

Still a tad on the soft side, and it rained today. Saturday I left tracks, something I am loath to do, with the slope I am hyper aware of starting any kind of erosion action so I baby it as much as possible. I have a landscaping rake for the Kubota 3 point, and will take out the tracks using it.
sideways.

The solar panel is not stressed by the boom truck ride at all, they handle worse then that out in the real world. Here's a shot of a 5,000 watt plus array I built for guy this winter, 60' high to clear the existing trees.Image

My tires are have been trained to not leave tracks. They graduated from the UofBW. Let me know when you're open to transients..... We'll talk solar.

That was great! And it looked like a lot of thought went into the preparation. I don't have that many friends, but I do have a crane so I went that route. The people lifting inside the barn had to have some faith

Now that's thinking outside the box. The only problem with that video is I kept hitting the side of my computer to try to fix the picture.
