Moving to Loveland, Colorado

Hi All,
I'm Cynthia - a newbie here. I'm currently based in Chandler, Arizona where I rent the Super Cubs and Great Lakes.
My Arizona friends fly their homebuilt taildraggers, and they're nice enough let me ride along when they're visiting the backcountry.

I'm moving to Loveland, Colorado in June. It's going to be really different flying over there weather wise, and I've done a lot of reading on flying by the Rockies.

My buddies are staying in Arizona for now :(
They might move up with me in a year or so :)
In the meantime, I'd like to chat with more people that know about flying in Colorado.

Specifically, I was curious if anyone has any input on people or flight schools in or near Loveland, CO that would let me rent and play around with their tailwheels.
There's not much tailwheel activity near Loveland according to the internet, so I wanted to put my feelers out here.

Thanks for reading,
Cynthia

Welcome. Windy. How are you with throttle movement to control sink and balloon? Harder to find tailwheel to rent because so expensive to repair fast ground loop damage. How fast do you touch down? Ag operators still have old ugly tw trainers around. You might check with them.

Longmont did have a Citabria. I did my TW endorsement in it.

Not familiar with FNL flight schools but:
Elite at LMO has a couple citabrias.
Journey's at BDU has a citabria
Specialty at BDU has a citabria

I'm down in Boulder with a Maule, let me know if you want any more specific information - [email protected].

Lots of tailwheel activity around here, but most of it is privately owned, not rentals.

Re: Moving to Loveland, Colorado

I lived in Berthoud, CO for years just south of Loveland and always flew out of the Longmont airport. Enjoyed that airport and the local folks.

Thanks - Dave
