Plan was a tour around Mt Rainier, close and nice.
With those clouds in the area changed the plan and flew to Ranger Creek and Tieton instead, although the air was smooth, I didnt want to get to close to Mt Rainier.

Really interesting downstream cloud. Probably could get a serious washing machine ride in that.

Standing lenticulars are indeed a sign of severe turbulance. Deceptive they look so calm and inviting. Beautiful pic thanks for sharing.

Was that last Saturday? I snapped a couple of pics with my phone as I was descending into SEA in the work airplane. It was impressive.

Oh it's
real nice and smooth right next to the lenticular cloud. Below and downstream of it is where the washing machine problem problem comes into play

Often enough, standing lenticulars tell of really tough flying downstream--and "downstream" can extend 100 miles on a really windy day.
Great video! We love the PNW and spend most of our vacations out there.

I was in the Sunrise area last weekend. Monday it was calm on the ground with a big cap on the top. Sunday the wind blew hard all day long. If it was Sunday, I'm surprised Ranger creek wasn't blowing as well.

It was Sunday, Ranger creek was nice, Tieton was nice and smooth also, all the route along the mountains too, but I wasnt going to get close to Rainer with that lenticular on top.
