Very interesting on the comparison of the two.
I have a 185F that is in need of a new prop and am more interested in speed than TO performance. I usually fly of grass and not near GW.
I have a metal McCauley and was looking at the Hartzel Voyager which seems better on the 185 than the 180.
The issue I have had with my plane is trimming nose down as the speed increases. It becomes very difficult to trim nose down much past
160 mph. Have read that you need weight in the tail on the 185 to help trim nose down which is counter intuitive. One recommendation was to carry a case of oil in the baggage compartment. The point is that I wonder if the lighter weight MT would help that issue?
Any thoughts greatly appreciated.
