Alaska has an extensive set of cameras all over the state. Take a look here: http://akweathercams.faa.gov/ for the locations and information on the system, which is FAA operated.

It almost took an act of Congress to get FAA to adopt this system, and it's still just an Alaska system as far as FAA is concerned, but it's one of the best weather information sites around.

Good read: http://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/predictions/90day/fxus05.html

This year is predicted to be warmer and wetter, but I hope the climatologists are proven wrong.

Reno tonight below zero if the sky clears by midnight. TV said that hasn't happened in 11 years.

Lovelock tonight.
Tonight: A 20 percent chance of snow showers. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around -4. North wind between 10 and 15 mph.

Now I see why you post so much Gump. Is cold out there. -4 here tonight wind 10-15 mph.

My mom told me a story about Lovelock. Before the freeway went through, the main road went through the middle of town. It was a hopping place. Her brother was a long haul trucker. He stopped in town and had to much fun. Got thrown in jail and called my mom to bail him out. Ah the good ol days.

The courthouse with Christmas Tree. Check the flags out.

I think the fire department needs a new hydrant.

Lovelock park. Lovers bring engraved locks here. There are hundreds of them.

The Jet Stream is coming directly out of the Arctic and N Canada. It was forecast earlier to split by wednesday, but that's changed.

This is some cold weather.

This thread should be retitled "My #1 Potpourri"

Crazy - my old frat brother Bill Hales owns the library! During college, I worked at Copelands sports tuning/mounting skis and then Audio Ecstasy selling high end audio, which paid for my pilots license. Farmers on Thursdays was the best. Miss SLO for sure

If any of you happen to get to SLO when I am home on vacation I'm buying. There is even room for a couple of sleeping bags. If the kids ever move out I can provide a bed or two, wouldn't hold my breath on that one though.

Re: My #1 favorite web cam where I fly.

John is Air San Luis still around? They were up at the end of the field toward town. Got my private there - nice lady named Elizabeth Dineen. Can't remember the owners name - but he was my actual FAA examiner for my check ride. Nice folks. Had a couple 152's, a 172, Citabria and an Apache I think. This was back in mid 90's.

Nice place to learn to fly. Plenty of xwind practice.

Re: My #1 favorite web cam where I fly.

That's him, he was my instrument instructor when he and Criss owned the previous FBO, Coastal Air. I think he said three words total. And yes, they are still there. I suppose I should stop in and say hi one of these years....

Al Yecny is the correct spelling.

On another note you can always tell when Cal Poly has something big going on by watching Flight Aware, lots of bizjet activity this week what with all them colledge kids gradiating. gradyou....moving on.
