My Trips Report Blog

About a year or so ago I saw the thread about landing at all CA airports: viewtopic.php?f=34&t=2809
This inspired me to join the rather ambitious goal and set up a google map to track the progress.
I then thought about documenting each airport with a photograph etc. As I wasn't that far along in the process or distance destinations it was easy to catch back up.

I would like to eventual make the photos into a personal book like you see from shutterfly but in the mean time I started a blog. It's not backcountry.... Yet as I only rent but here it is.

I was doing something similar with my blog but I didn't like having to maintain it so I started using our airports.com. You can create the same kind of map and link to it. Mine is at airprayer.net

Re: My Trips Report Blog

Do you plan to land at LAX? The crazy adventurous side of me wants to and think the $100.00 landing fee might be worth it :D I would be curious how many small planes land there in a month :-k

If I ever get my plane back down to SoCal, I'd like to do the same. I would like to at least land at all public airports on the LA Terminal and possibly even some or all of the private strips, too (if the owners will grant me permission [-o< ). I would even like to get Los Alamitos and March AFB in if I can. Even if it's a touch and go on a Sunday.

Like I said my goal is ambitious :) LAX in a skycatcher or even a 172 would be interesting and probably annoying to some. Maybe a a midnight flight. Do these large airports have a # to see about peak hours? I'm more thinking like ontario and San Diego.

I'm going for a much larger scale  Something tells me I won't be able to hit every one, lol

I was told by a few people at AFI in Fullerton if you want to land at LAX, the best time is between 12am and 4am. I'm wondering if it might be a good Idea to find a nice long runway like Austin, NV and practice high speed approaches to get set up for an airport like LAX?

That's kinda what I was thinking. They would deffinately have you come in "hot" and then cut it at the the last minute. Landing at Ontario and then San Diego would be good stepping stones for LAX if at all. There's many other airports I rather go to first than the grand daddy of them all.

Re: My Trips Report Blog

Cool stuff you guys! I like finding out about the history behind some of these airstrips. Certainly a few places there I would like to visit someday.

Thanks for sharing!
