I found this on another list. I have not confirmed it. Sounds interesting though.
This Wednesday, October 19th, on the Discovery channel, the myth busters are going to duct tape a B-lite Kitfox to replicate the plane that was fixed with duct tape then flew out of the bush in Alaska after being torn up by a hungry bear.

I saw it advertised on Discovery last nite. The B-lite is in no way affiliated with Kitfox though totally different company and airplane. Boy I'll bet when that guy snapped those pics of his Cub he had no idea how widespread they would reach. Be careful where your sending your pics people!

I saw a PA-22 land in Montrose taxi in one time with something funny wrapped around its tail. It turned out the entire skin off the belly came loose when he flared and it wrapped around his horizontal stabilizer from water rot.
He left a few hours later with full tanks and the skin stuck on with *liberal* applications of duct tape. He landed in Grand Junction without incident. I started carrying it around (and using it).
Gorilla brand tape really is better...

I think that duct tape is an essential piece to any (fabric) airplane repair kit. It works great for small holes and areas where the fabric is beginning to come up... I even carry two different colors, tan and dark brown to match the plane!

As a green student readying my vintage 1970's 150 steed for a day of training, I pointed out the duct tape on the horizontal stabilizer to my instructor. Without batting an eye he factly stated, "It's aircraft grade duct tape."

BCP Poser.
Life is good. Life is better with wings.
That was hard to watch. The way they tore that airplane up anyhow.

Did anyone anyone else think that Carey Byron wearing those claws and that goofy bear hat was just a tad bit hot?

Belite got some pretty coverage during that episode. Far cheaper than making a commercial to sacrifice that plane I'm sure. If you watched close you saw that that airplane uses Carbon Fiber spars.
