NAFI Member?

Folks,

If any of you are members of the National Association of Flight Instructors, I suggest you surf on over to this web site: http://www.tbo-nafi.org/

The Board of Directors of this organization is totally unresponsive to the membership, and it's time to Take Back Our NAFI.

Join us if you're interested. This one deserves to be won.

MTV,

Thanks for posting this and brining it to my attention. I don't plan on being at the AOPA Expo but sure will try to follow it and do whatever I can do to help.

MTV,

Looks like TBO's efforts are already paying off. I receieved an email from NAFI today stating that due to member's concerns, they were going to relook at the way the by-laws are written.

Cheers,

Take a look at the website again... More updates are being added daily. It does appear that the Board is at least considering a re-write of the by-laws of the organization, however the time line they are suggesting is blatantly ridiculous, and most likely designed to simply "wait em out".

The web site http://www.tbo-nafi now has a new look, and progress is going forward to continue this discussion.

Please forward the link to the web site to any NAFI members you may know, and let them decide whether or not to weigh in on this issue.

Mike,

I tried to follow some of the history of the issues between the NAFI board and TBO via the website, but what's the problem in layman's terms?

Mike,

The website has much more information than I can provide here. In a nutshell, here's what happened MOST RECENTLY:

Several members of the Board of Directors decided and announced that they were not going to re-elect Sandy and Joann Hill to the Board at its next meeting.

The Hills are the ones that created and have run the Master CFI program since its inception, and also the ones who've organized the outfit's public efforts at OSH, Sun N Fun, etc.. Frankly, they're the only ones on the Board who've done much of ANYthing for years to benefit the organization. Rusty Sachs was past Exec Director, and he was helpful, but Sandy and Joann pretty much did all the heavy lifting. They worked to get the MCFI program accepted by the FAA as fulfilling the requirements for a FIRC. Etc.

The Hills have pushed the Board some and apparently some on the Board simply decided they'd be rid of them, and just take over all these programs that the Hills run. That simply wouldn't happen, frankly.

This was the genesis of the controversy, but frankly, the Board of Directors is self elected, NO member input. Until we started raising a stink, the Bylaws were NOT public info, and nobody really knew WHO the Board members were. To say the Board is not responsive to the members is the understatement of the century.

THAT is the issue that got this TBO-NAFI group going. We've asked the Board to resign, and establish an interim Board so we can move on and re-write the bylaws.

Tom Poberezny, who is a member of the Board, asked for time and presented a well reasoned plea at the Board meeitng in OCt for the Board to consider this input from the members. He was pretty much blown off.

So, here we are. Again, there is a lot of stuff on the web site.

Rich Stowell has been the key player in organizing and operating the membership, trying to put as much pressure on the Board as we can to try to turn them around.

We'll see. If you have other questions, send me a PM and I'll get you a phone number, and we can talk.

Looks like now would be a good time to pick up your football and go home.

Isn't this why churches and other organizations divide and start there own.
