New Gopro Mount for smaller struts!

Hello All,

As many of you know, I designed and patented a camera mount for General aviation strutted aircraft and many BCP'rs are using it. I wanted to let everyone know that I have now added a new design to my line and now can fit pretty much any 2 to 6 place GA strutted aircraft. The new design focuses on fitting some of the smaller sized struts with smaller leading edge Radii. The mount is available now and below is a list of various aircraft I now support. This list is growing every day as I try new aircraft. Anyone interested in more info can email me at [email protected] or PM me here.

Small Cloud 9 Mount
Supercub, Pa-11, Pa-12, Legend Cub & Cubcrafters Top Cub
All Shortwing Pipers
All Rans
Ch701, Ch750 and Savannah
Bearhawk LSA
Interstate Cadet and L-6
Cessna 120 & 140 (non a model, 140a uses the cessna mount)
Taylorcraft
Stearman
Waco
Whitman Tailwind
Bucher Jungmeister
Kitfox (available soon waiting on machined part)
Rearwin Skyranger
Maules

Large Cloud 9 Mount:
All strutted Cessnas from C140a to strutted 210 (C337 by special request)
Stinson 108 series, Stinson 10 (non sheetmetal struts with riveted TE)
Piper J and L series
Aeronca Champ, Aeronca K, Aeronca 15ac Sedan
Bearhawk Patrol and 4 place (available soon waiting on machined part)
Zenair 750 Cruzer (available soon waiting on machined part)
Aviat Husky
Glassair Sportsman

Planes Id like to find to test:
Just Highlander and Super Stol
SQ2
Citabria and Decathlon
Open to others

What I have found it does not fit: so far just 3 aircraft
Dehaviland Beaver and Brousard (strut is massive and outside the range of my front clamp)
Luscombe with the riveted TE sheet metal struts. (I may make a special version for this as others have asked)

Prices vary as configurations change from $120 to $145. Also some configurations fit many aircraft.

Below is a few pics of the mount before it went to anodize.

Re: New Gopro Mount for smaller struts!

I've been beta testing Marc's wing strut mount with my GoPro and have had great results. I don't land in some of the really rough stuff that the rest of you guys do but I've got small tires and spring steel landing gear so it can be kind of a bumpy ride on some strips. This little mount holds on tight. Being able to put it on the rear and front strut has made for some really neat camera angles.

Looks great Marc. Keep in mind that citabrias will have different struts depending on the wings. The factory aluminum sparred wings have a bigger strut then the wood or Millman sparred wings.

Hello David,

Thank you for the info on the Citabria. Different struts is not an issue with my mount since it contacts on the tangent point of the leading edge radius. However, if the chord lengths are significantly different, I do need to know that as I pair each strap length to the proper chord length. Unless I am very familiar with the type f aircraft or its a version I have sold many times, I always ask the prospective buyers to verify their strut dimensions with what my sample is. On the older aircraft, strut profiles seem to change a lot based on where the strut upgrade was done or if it was ever done.

Thanks for the kid words Scott, your input during the beta testing was very helpful.

Take care,

Re: New Gopro Mount for smaller struts!

Hey Marc. The chords are different lengths. The newer strut for the aluminum spar is a fair amount larger.

Got anything for a Maule strut? I'd be interested in one if you did.

Yes I do, I forgot to add that to the list. I just sent one out for an M7 the other day. Struts are very similar in dimension to the Supercub Strut so both share the same setup. If you send me an email to the address above, I can then respond with the pricing and such.

Take care,

Re: New Gopro Mount for smaller struts!

I have been using Marc's mount on our pacer and Taylorcraft since the first of the year. I have been really happy with the results especially when it comes to the pacer where vibration with my old mounts has been a problem. The picture was steady and the mount is easily removable which is a huge advantage over my old RAM set upImage

Footage from Marc's mount. Nothing exciting just showing how the mount did on our pacer

Re: New Gopro Mount for smaller struts!

Yep, they fit on Maules. All Maules have the same strut profile (M9 probably different); therefore, M4 thru M7 should work. Still playing w/ the mount to optimize options to minimize vibrations. Have not tried 60 fps yet.

Hey Tom,

Now that I see the pic, I can see whats likely causing you any issues on vibration. Having the camera with the vibration isolator out straight like that just increases the moment arm on the camera and will amplify vibration. If you have a look at the camera layout on the Pacer in the pics above you will see how the moment arm is less. ou can have the camera normal or inverted like on the pacer. Also 60FPS will give you best results. Also having the damper in that orientation is not as effective as vertical. Give that those a try and let me know how it goes.
