New member intro

Greetings fellow pilots-
I recently joined in order to learn more about mountain and bush flying. We live on the eastern shore of Maryland, so no mountains and not many off-airport landings. However, the plan is to move out to Boulder CO in 2015, & I figured learning some of the basics before meeting up with an instructor out there is a good thing. I'm currently flying a Beech Sierra but will likely move to a C180 when we relocate. Prior airplane was a C170A in stock configuration.
I look forward to reading the forum.
Regards,
John (aka Reichy)

The faster I go , the farther behind I get.

Well let me know when you get here to Boulder. There are some really cool BCP'ers here in the front range. Welcome!

Good to have you, John. You should try to connect with 260Driver, if you're interested. He just relocated to the DC area, and is keeping his Maule at MRY last I heard.

Don't give up on east coast backcountry, either. Here's a thread to whet your appetite:

Welcome! Maryland is iconic when it comes to sailing history. Baltimore Harbor has some interesting displays.

You probably work for the Feds, that's the only way to afford that area! :D

Keep that mountain dream alive! I did stationed in Baltimore, it worked for me. I kind of miss those salaries out there however!

Welcome John...

I live in Denver and fly out of KFTG (Front Range Airport). Boulder is a great place as long as you can get used to all the weirdo's.

The 170 and 180's are great planes! I like the Maule a little better - Tube and fabric is easy to maintain and I never worry about dents. Also, you can get a better avionics platform in a newer bird. Personal opinion I guess.

Right on both counts, though now retired. We enjoy the sailing, fishing and kayaking. However, we love skiing and I am an avid bowhunter, so the west is calling.

Re: New member intro

Are you retired now, or will be in 2 years? Like Warren Miller says, "Every year you wait, you'll be one year older when you do."

Look us up when you get here. We're not all weirdos, but we try. :D
