Half a century spent proving “it is better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.”

Re: New owner for Minam Lodge

Theresa and I were there just a couple of weeks ago. Sean and Shelly were super nice, and hoping the new owner would allow them to continue running the operation. Sounds like they may have gotten their wish. Good camping, good food, and the fishing ain't bad either!

Re: New owner for Minam Lodge

New owner said,

"I especially like the idea that you have to earn it to come in and enjoy the lodge," Ellis said. "You just can't hop in your car and come out to the Minam River Lodge."

Uh o!

This doesn't sound good

$600,000 for the only 127 that possibly will ever be available in this area?

Sure wish I could have bought it. Sure sounds like a great investment.

And think. The property taxes are likely low because your not supporting the "system"

Cheers!

Yeah, what a steal for 600K. Perhaps giving the new owners a flight into their lodge will show them the utility of keeping the airstrip open.

$600,000 % by 127 acres Works out to $4725 +/- per acre I do believe.

The future will tell if that's a bargain.

If you could just use hindsight before hand

Re: New owner for Minam Lodge

Too bad we'all at BCP didn't chip in and make that bid.....
I know, that is when the big headaches would start.

Just dreaming we could do it and it could work smoothly.........

If only,

My mother used to say "If wishes were horses, beggars would ride"......
I would change that to "If wishes were airplanes........."

Humor may not make the world go around, but it certainly cheers up the process... :)
With clothing, the opposite of NOMEX is polypro (polypropylene cloth and fleece).

Re: New owner for Minam Lodge

I really hope that it will remain close to what is now.
It is as close to Idaho flying for breakfast or camping that I know of in Oregon. Shelly has a good following for the way she runs the place and I hope the new owners will allow her to continue. (she does the work around there, from cooking to packing people in!)

Reds Horse Ranch is close by (Forest service owned) but no lodging or food, is on a down hill decline and in my opinion short lived.

I was asked way back in my salad days to contribute $2500 to buy 100 acres of Hollister farmland to build a private airport. It was the silliest thing I ever heard of. Or so I thought. Never being one to take advantage of an opportunity when it knocks, I let it go. Now, 100 of my old flying buddies from back in the '80s own Fraser airpark. A hangar there is in the $.5M class I think.

Seems like a 100 acres of someplace ought to make a nice non residential airpark eh? Are there a hunnert of us within 40 or 50 miles of someplace?

Sorry, off topic.
