New plane, new gig

We’ll new adventures!

Recently took a job up in the Great Lakes area in a jet, little different form the floats and speciality air service stuff I have been doing, but some similarities and takeaways both directions

One was my prior post here about teaching and learning rote, that was based on some experiences I had in sim training, when things happen faster understanding things to the level of correlation is imperative as is finding teachers who teach to that level, don’t just know what to do, know WHY you do it, all the way from basic airmanship to avionics, this is true for a J3 all the way to a SR71, it just is more apparent when things go sideways faster

Also AOA, having flown a few planes with AOA, man I debate adding a AOA to my skywagon, the instant information it gives you, in the jets your approach and takeoff and climb speeds are re calculated for every landing and takeoff, yet that little AOA is like a honey badger, it don’t care, just reads the same regardless of flap setting or weight, ice etc when it comes to approach or climb

Company also has some other assets with much lower approach speeds, all the way 0KIAS

Ether way, thought I’d share

Those are cool photos and love the glass panel. I know BCP is all about backcountry flying but there is something to be said for flying in the flight levels at near mach speeds with an AP taking in the scenery. Cool you get to vary the type of flying you're doing professionally. At the end of the day it's all stick and rudder and I agree training is applicable from J3s to jets.

Thank you for sharing the cool pictures.

Someday your excellent stick and rudder skills will save your bacon in that fancy jet.
