XPMod 14" vs GarAero vs Scott 3400. The tire on the xp is a 5.00-5

How's the 14" XP stack up against the baby bush wheel? Seems like the BBW is not as tall, but fatter. (sounds like I'm talking about me!) What are the outside diameters & widths of the two t/w's?
The latest Chief catalog lists the BBW asembly at $1720. BTW, the standard 3200 is down (down!) to $975. How much is the XP?
And what are the pro's & con's of the two different tire/wheel sizes? Seems like the BBW offers better floatation for soft ground, while the XP might be better at rolling over obstructions.

Hey superdave. If I am not mistaken, didn't your plane evolve from a tric plane to a taildragger over several years. If so, it looks as if you have simply (with a few basic hand tools) just moved the 5x500 nose wheel to the back of the plane. Seems easier to have just mounted the engine in the back and turned the seats arround.

The BBW uses the same size tire as the Gar. They are slightly fatter than the XP. With the little Scott I had blowouts at the most inconvenient times. The tailwheel sees over 200 lbs. when the plane is empty (never) and the crummy little tire just can't handle it. I tried a six ply and it was even worse.
With the XP I can see where I'm going, which is nice.

I did the BBW a couple months ago. Cost was $1000. Installation was quick and easy to my Scott 3400. The price appealed to me and the fact that it works on lower air pressure, 8-15 lbs. reducing stress on the stinger. FWIW Gary
