new toy!

well guys, the sad news. Im sadly parting with my beloved drifter of which it is no secret how fond I am of it. Im really struggling with the thought of selling it, its truly proved to be the little drifter that could!

but on the upside. Im selling it because Ive bought a new ride....I got me a storch!! :D

Image

one of my good mates, who I might add owns two cubs kindly reminded me that the last aerial casualty of the European theater was a storch, shot down by 2 L4's with pistols. I in turn demanded a rematch and got sent this in reply......

Oh its on!

Re: new toy!

the storch is 912uls powered and will easily operate in under 150 feet. Both take off and landing. engine has 1500 hours to TBO but its no secret the 912 will run on well past that!

shes scruffy looking but just needs a rub back and repaint. The cloth however is in great condition and mechanically its A1. Ive got it stupidly cheap and I really feel Ive done well on this one. super excited!!

the best part to me is that while I have had a great little plane for years now that has safely taken me into all sorts of amazing locations. Its been far to under powered to even consider taking a passenger. Now I have a machine that can do it. So now when you guys venture over here we can go do some bush bashing!

I pick the machine up late January/early February and then the adventures begin!

Re: new toy!

That is super-awesome! I've always loved the Storch.

I found one for sale with original paint...swastikas and iron crosses and all. I couldn't afford it but I sent a picture of it to a buddy of mine who could, cautioning him about the paint job. He dryly responded that its a good thing they were only swastikas and iron crosses...if it'd been confederate flags you couldn't fly it. I thought that was hysterical.

Re: new toy!

Thanks guys! you can all expect a ride in it if and when you come over here. It is honestly a big part of why I bought it, So I can take you guys Aussie bush flying when you rock up down here instead of just gentle puts around the coast.

for those interested this will eventually be the sort of paint job I will look at doing. I like the Idea of the D Day strips over the camo with the yellow belly so incase something where to happen over tiger country the aircraft is still clearly visible. Though it could be a fair while till it happens, I will look into costs when I get it but I may just tidy up the white for now and do that when I have to recover it eventually.
