Not as many people hunt and fish. We are becoming more and more an urban society.

All the extra rules and lack of game are a big reason. To fish in California you have to pay arround 40 bucks and be an attorney to understand the regs.

It is hard to do a big game hunt withour putting in for a tag several month ahead of time.

Maybe I will go up to Grahm again for a squirel hunt.

Here is a link to a recent article I saw on Yahoo news.

Maybe more people will start hunting again to get rid of the animals that are killing some of the big game. My family has been hunting the northwest for 30 years and the past ten years have seen a decline in success and a rise in sightings of predators.

I know there are game animals out there still and a alot has to do with right place right time.

As for California, I used my 40 dollar license to fish on a small reservoir today on the Stanislaus River and caught 3 nice Brown Trout and a couple of Rainbow Trout. Not a bad morning. Pics will show up soon.

Fresh fish on the Bar B Q tonight! :D

Although the game has changed down south here, there is plenty of what there is. Deer and turkey are almost a nuisence they are so plentiful. Quail, unfortunately are gone, but now we have armadillos and coyotes.
Hunting is work. Dirty work, and I'm afraid we are becoming a lazy society that won't get their hands dirty. That and the public attitude of firearms has left hunting to be a "redneck" activity.
Down here hunting is no more expensive than it has ever been. Hunting has become more "professional" now with hunting clubs being the norm. You are either an avid hunter, or you don't hunt.
On edit, I lived in Germany for a few years, and if we are not careful, we are headed down that way. You can hunt in Germany, but it's not easy.

Doesnt surprise me. Its all pay per view. Just about everyplace I used to hunt got sold and is leased out to outfitters. So between the harassment from DNR, cost, and lack of access. Ive pretty much given up.

Mountain lions are protected in California. Might have somthing to do with the deer heard on the decline.

I agree with a64pilot...I was also in Germany and got my jagdshien (Germen hunting license) while I was there. I hunted there and it is VERY regulated. Some of it is good and some of it bad. I feel we are headed in that direction also with so many regulations. The regulations in most sates are written poorly and have to be reread many times sometimes to figure out what they mean. I hunt in several different states and have recently slowed way down and this is mostly due to it being such a hassle to send in for permits and very time consuming to make sure you have everything correct. If not, your application gets $hi^ canned and you're out of luck.
Getting to be geared towards "those with money" are the ones that get to hunt.

aint that the truth, just look at how much it is gettin to be for a sheep hunt and stuff like that. I think its up arount $60000 for a desert sheep hunt and like $35000 for a stone sheep. Its too bad its turning into that.
