Nor Cal Flying / West Circuit?

Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

Yeah, too bad, we've had good luck with the weather lately.

Yes the weather has been nice! However it's time for lots and lots of snow so that those that ski/snowboard can do so! Also some IFR weather! :)

Re: Nor Cal Flying / West Circuit?

I was BS'ing with a friend of mine that I work with, and he was telling me about a cattle branding that he was a last week in the Napa area. He said his buddy that owns the place has a strip out back and flies a 172. Then he tells me that these two guys land there in a 170 and "some 2 place job with a two stroke motor on it...rota..rotec?!!?" (his words, not mine ).

I instantly started chuckling at the inherent coincidence that you often experience in this small aviation world we live in. I said to my buddy, "ya I know those guys", but then I had to explain that I didn't really "know" them but there's this website called BCP, and...well I'm sure you know the rest of the story

Anyway, Just wanted to share that with Rob and Avid. If my airplane wasn't down for MX right now I probably would have been there that day!! Soon, I hope...

It never ceases to amaze me how small the Aviation world is sometimes! Good stuff. Now that rains have finally come I'm going to do some work on my plane tomorrow.

New prop blades and extended bush gear.

Hey Robw56,
I caught a quick look at the four of you flying low just south east of Middletown. I could not raise you on the frequencies I had used in the past. What frequencies are you guys using when flying the West Circut.?

Were you flying? I remember seeing what looked like a 172 up above us when we were flying from hardin ranch to crazy creek. We are usually on 123.45, or we might have been on 123.3 which is the freq for crazy creek.

Re: Nor Cal Flying / West Circuit?

Rob,
I was flying my Bumblebee looking C182. Initially I was going to Lampson. Mistake there (Cafe closed and moved). I ended up at Ukiah (Blue Bell restraunte is now a mexican food place. Good food and reasonably priced) I was about two miles to the west and about 1000 feet above. Just on a chance when I saw four planes low and slow I tried to make contact thinking it might be BCP'ers. Next time I'll make a better effort.

Another great day of flying. I found at least two more spots on the way home. The wind was ripping or I would have landed them.
