North Carolina to AZ50

Have to do North Carolina to AZ50 trip in coming weeks . First intended stop is Newton,Ks to see relatives ,on to northern New Mexico to check out my property ,on to ABQ area to visit friends and home to AZ50 . Anyone on intended route that would like to meet up for coffee or hamberger or such . I'll be pretty much GPS straight with deviations for weather . Going to video parts of trip need settings that cut down ( or eliminate prop going thru picture ) needed for Drift HD 1080 mounted on head set . Quite the adventure - back in early 60s went New York to Washington in Crop dusters several times , a hoot at 90 mph very low level , IFR - I follow roads .

I know the real story. He's going to Newton, KS to see if he can find Jim Bede and get the rest of his BD-5 kit and engine...

182 STOL driver has quite a story about Bede and Newton KS and midnight landings as seen from a little house trailer at the airport. Ask him about it sometime :)

Yes I do remember Jim Bede landing on taxiway at night ( 3am) and coasting down to his office to pick up mail - then depart before anyone knew he was there. My house trailer was 50 yards from the taxiway . My dads family was all around Newton,Kansas - my uncle was District Attorney , Judge , mayor etc. Me and my cousins were fishing ,hunting fools - family's were farmers and Railroad workers. Had lots of fun there and still have part of a farm sharried with cousins .
