Cripes, a trip down memory lane

Thank Scouter for bringing us back on topic. :P

Lets see, I've owned 172, 180, 182 in that order. Flown 205, turbo 206, 185, 235 pathfinder, 200 horse Arrow, Sia-Marchettie (SP) SF-260, T-34 Mentor, 8 different 172s, 5 different 182s, 5 different 150/152s, "46" Champ, Super Cub, J-3 Cub, 108-1, Bonanza.

However not one airplane has made me pi** blood like a 450 Ducati desert racer that I piled up on when I was 16. Never told my folks until 5 years ago at a family get together. If I had it would have been the end of my motorcycle days. Have a bone spur now that the Doc says most likely came from the crash.

Hey if I knew I would live this long I'd taken better care of myself.

*slap* *slap* REDO.

I usually like to let things sort themselves out, but sometimes I have to prune the ugliness.

Now about those Scouts...

hey 1seventyZ, do you have a 180 conversion in you 170. I really enjoyed my 170b. It had a 3 blade prop and 26 in tires. It worked great.

No, unfortunately I still have the lawnmower engine. :) I came about $10K shy of owning an 8GCBC when I was plane shopping, but that is a story for a different thread...

Was that the red & white one that was featured in Private Pilot magazine about 10 years ago-- N1643D ? Nice looking airplane, and the only one I've ever seen with a 3 blade.

It's possible that being forced to ride a girls purple Schwin at that tender age may have changed you or altered your destiny somewhat

Just kidding

I had a "Dirt King" it eventually affected my understanding of gravity and impact velocity.

Another way of saying what goes up must come down and what goes up higher comes down hard.

early motorcycle days

Havn't heard some of those names in years! I started racing when the best on the block was a Yamaha 100 street/trail crossover sort of thing with the funny looking round cylinder on the engine. We would cut the frame and change the rake angle then put Cerianni forks on it and really thought we were cool.

Hodaka "combat Wombat" shifting pattern was differnt from everything else.

Bultaco had the starter on the wrong side, hard to get used to.

Rode a Sachs/Dolmer with the leading link front end a few times, also a Greaves that pulled like a tractor.

I agree with some of you, if I were to fly as high as some of the freestyle guys do now I want wings attactched.

I have owned a bunch of harleys, they are good now, were not in the past, but by no definition of the word are they the best, try an Aprilia or a bimota a duc or many other outstanding rides.

There are many fine bikes out there, some even turn.

Yeah there are a lot of bikes out there that are better than a Harley in one way or another. Doesn't matter though. And I haven't pushed either of mine yet nor is there any oil on the garage floor. It just doesn't matter. It's an American thing.

did not state that I did not like them, or that they are or are not what makes a person patriotic.

I was referring to the line that there is not a better bike.

I like them as well, always have always will. I just don't like categorical statements.
