NY anti helicopter busybody law (fire mission)

It takes strength and fortitude to beat the air into submission.

NY anti helicopter busybody law (fire mission)

So NY has a new law, as they have never met a law they don’t like, where any busybody type could sue you as a pilot, or your operation for “noise pollution” even if you’re flying within the regs

NBAA has a link to more details and a mailer to let NYs government know you don’t want this law passed, might be worth it if you fly through that part of the country, or if you just don’t like busybody’s being able to sue pilots who are not doing anything wrong

Re: NY anti helicopter Karen law (fire mission)

The first girl I ever French kissed in middle school was named Karen. I remember her fondly.

I get the reasoning behind the term but I'd prefer it not be used here.

That was the take away Zane?

Ok, I’ll edit,

but it seems like triage would state a law to go after pilots not breaking any FARs would be more of a comment worthy aspect of my post compared to a very common phrase

Welcome to clown world. This is a result of the first modified for noise abatement airport pattern 30ish years ago. All tolerance is a slippery slope. All those fancy orgs might win this one, but they will lose eventually. If they had any balls they'd refuse to fly in NYS if passed.
Tolerance gets you more of what you tolerate this is coming to your rural red state soon. Tolerate a little bit of Karen and you get the full Karen.

We have to cooperate. As both crop duster and pipeline patrol pilot in airplanes, I found that some cities view airplanes as noisier than helicopters and excluded Ag and patrol in city limits. It was economic, however. Helicopter cost of operation cannot compete with airplane bid for same kind of work.

I’m not a fan of giving in

Give a inch and they will take a mile

You know why people don’t try to get a railroad or a massive freeway they CHOOSE to move next to shutdown, it’s because they know it’s futile

Even big companies do what makes economic sense, generally. Oil companies are more like small countries than like businesses, but pipelines became much more crooked around the turn of the century because of lawyers. They would rather go around than spend a year getting eminent domain. A new line I flew then made a 90 every half mile most of the way and cost exactly twice what was planned. Big Inch and Little Big Inch, Sunaco Midwest, has only a few curves from Houston to New Jersey. Explorer Pipeline, 1970, is moderately crooked.
