Ohio Bushplanes comes to Norcal

Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

Ohio Bushplanes comes to Norcal

I received an email from Emflys on Friday asking if I was available to lead Swingle around on Monday. I had to ask twice if I heard him right! I didn't' even know he was in the area. We did some coordination and Monday I led Swingle, Emflys, Weave(S-7) Paco, and Bill (182) around our growing West Circuit. We added a few more stops as well. I won't let all the cats out of the bag because I know there will be some awesome videos coming at some point but let's just say with this particular group and skillset it was an interesting day. Bill you have my utmost respect as a pilot. He stuck that 182 into places that completely blew my mind yesterday. In one instance he was in and out shorter than I was! It's amazing what the right airplane and pilot can make a big Cessna do!! Greg and Becky it was great to finally meet you guys!! Weave, Paco, and Emmet when are we going again?

Re: Ohio Bushplanes comes to Norcal

Sorry Kevin this whole thing fell together in about a day. I did think of you but for some reason I was thinking you were already up North. You'd love this circuit. Both Emmet and Rob have both commented on how much better the performance is on this circuit. I think the highest point yesterday was about 1800msl.

We created quite the buzz at the Nut Tree. They don't see a flight of 5 big tire airplanes departing off the grass in 100ft very often. :D

Re: Ohio Bushplanes comes to Norcal

Sorry Kev - it was last minute. Great shot Joey of me and Weav waterskiing. Lots of little bodies of water for that.

This is going to be a BEAUTIFUL circuit in Spring. Green grass. We should do a trip working North ending at Gravelly, then head to the East side of the valley (west Sierras), and hit all the spots Kevin found between Oroville and say Auburn.

Great to hang out with Swingle. He's in South Lake right now, about to blast to Austin NV on way to WY. His wife is a great sport and seems to love to bash the countryside in that bird.

Some more pics. Got a little video, unimpressive, but it will get edited...eventually.

Our friend Bill landed his tri-gear 182 on about a 35deg slope. We all said "oh shit...he's gonna land" at the same time.

Swingle put on a little show of halfpiping between two slopes. Pretty steep - hard to see in the pics.

Man that looks like trouble! So, it wasn't just my imagination, Weave's prop was a bit close?

So....Greg's taking a break from building the new bird? He'll never get it done that way #-o

Re: Ohio Bushplanes comes to Norcal (with Vid)

You will all have to wait for Swingle to stop moving and get a good internet connection to see some of his video. Till then, you are stuck with this one. I kept the theme of Joey's title, albeit I didn't get a whole lot of OBP actually flying. John, you are not represented...obviously...but would be a welcome addition.

Yes, I did catch Swingle filming and talking to a pile of cow dung, comparing it to his native Ohio brand.

That's Weav in his S7 at 2:26 doing the hammerhead, then a roll just after it. A light S7 does nice acro.

ZANE: I apologize for the un-approved font style usage on the title slide. If you can believe it, I don't have even the basic Helvetica, let alone Helvetica Neue. I'll change it when I get it.

Joey - I have NO video of you. We'll have to fix that on our next outing. We need to take a videographer with us next time that we can force to just sit on the ground and take video.

Good video. What is the story of that pond NE of Lodi that looks like it could be a seaplane base? Wish I had it.

Well Becky wondered why I bothered editing, cuz Emmet had better footage. My take is more of a case study on The Weav.

My vids are music videos. Your's are films! Hilarious. You did great job of capturing Weav in all his glory. And he wasn't even drinking. I think. That look on Joey's face is priceless. Still can't believe Bill landed his 182 on that hillside.

You coming back out this spring? Everything will be really pretty and green. Even the cowshit.

Nice work as usual Swingle.
