Some time back there was a discussion here on BCP about Off Highway Vehicles -including use of Motorbikes ,jeeps and Aircraft on dirt roads and non U.S. Gov't paved interstates. I've got a Tote goat that I want to be able to operate to the store occasionally .Also want a OHV sticker on my airplane to land at the local fishing hole, Without Local county Mounty getting all flustered. I see I can get OHV plate and sticker in Arizona for 20 bucks -is this eligible to be used in Idaho or Montana ? Inquiring minds want to know .

Sometimes spelled vehicles. I'm curious about that myself. I pay an increasing fee every year to Idaho for a sticker, not sure what it's for. I do occasionally use their roads, so I feel slightly better about the BS fee.

Nevada instituted a pseudo-registration for OHV's a couple years ago. $20 a year for a sticker. The VIN has to be verified by a licensed shop or law enforcement when you first sign up.

Nevada DMV is not requiring OHV's to be titled, so therefore the bikes aren't technically "registered" which would let you wander all 50 states like you do in your car. I've heard that "some" states will recognize the NV sticker, but others won't, and will ding you if you're without their sticker and get caught.

Some of my four-wheeler buds sneak into Kalifornia a lot, and plan on a court challenge if they get ticketed while possessing a valid NV sticker.

I'm gonna stick one on the Cessna just for shits and grins. Just haven't bothered yet. It'll be interesting to see how DMV responds when they see Cessna as vehicle make on the form.

I went by the local DMV today, and thought of this thread. So I stopped and went inside. As usual, no line (thank God I live in Idaho) and I asked about an off road vehicle sticker. The friendly lady said " you bet, just bring in your title". I then told her it was a homebuilt 3 wheeler, and she said again, just bring in the title.

Figuring to save time, I told her that it was a home built airplane, and I have a title for it sort of but not what you usually are used to seeing. She then said that I needed to "talk to Boise", and gave me a phone #. I got a younger sounding guy who seemed to be on my side, after I again fessed up and flat out said it was for an airplane I land in "different places". He took my email address and promised to get back to me, nothing yet.

Got a email from friend of mine with Montana Fish ,Wildlife & Parks Off-Highway Vehicle Non Resident Permit $5 bucks a year. It includes ATV's ,4 wheelers, aircushion vehicle(that's what I intercept at airplane)
