OK Radio techs?
Avionics, airplane covers, tires, handheld radios, GPS receivers, wireless Wx uplink...any product related to backcountry aircraft and flying.
OK, I have my 182 in the radio shop.
I am having them trouble shoot why the KN 64 DME will not remote to the KX 155 (nav 2) and KN 53 ( nav 1). Now they have got the 64 to remote to the 53 in the plane, but it will not remote to the 155 in the plane. But it will work on the bench with the 155. Honeywell is scratching their heads also.
Any Ideas?
Thanks, Bub

Are they using your harness and radio trays (racks) during the bench tests?

The truth will set you on the path to being free
I'll take a look at the schematics tomorrow. But I'll take a guess that there are diodes in the channeling lines and one diode has gone bad.

First off understand that without schematics for your plane's avionics install I have to make some assumptions that your DME & Nav radios were installed per the generic schematics in the King manuals.
This is what I have come up with...
The KN64 DME can be channeled many ways.
The KN53 Nav uses ARINC 2x5 (parallel) to channel a DME
The KX155 normally uses King serial data link to channel a DME but can use a King KA120 serial to ARINC 2x5 (parallel) data converter to channel a DME.
Because you are using 2 navs to channel a DME they have to use the same type of channeling. So I'm assuming that you have a KA120 converter so the KX155 can channel in ARINC 2x5.
Because the KN64 is working on the bench with the KX155 and not in the plane I'm almost certain that the bench test is using the King serial datalink.
So your problem in either the KA120, insolation diodes in the channeling lines, or wiring.
I hope this helps, ask any questions you may have, or give me a call at 952-994-2025.

Todd,
Thanks for the input, I'll pass that along to the techs to see what happens.
