OK what are they?

Now that we have two cameras at smiley creek I've noticed at times several animals on the runway but they are always a bit far away to identify. I would swear they look like pronghorn antelope but I didn't think there were any in Idaho. I thought Pronghorns were a midwest animal. One of you Idahoans might know. As I write this there is one Bedded down in front of the east facing camere and it sure looks like a pronghorn to me.

Ok went back to the camera and the little fart was gone. Must be a pronghorn.

Can't see what you are talking about on there right now but that place looks like A#1 Pronghorn habitat to me, and I have personally seen pronghorn myself in that state, though a lttle closer to the east side than Smiley Creek.

Don't know and can't speak for the boys from Idaho. But Pronghorns are as think as hair on a coon hounds back here in Eastern Oregon.
Matter of fact this last weekend while hunting I saw at least 60 to 70 head in one herd.

Robert "Bub" Wright, aka Skylane, passed away in November of 2011. He was a beloved community member and will be missed.
This one was there five minutes ago and when I went back to look again was gone. I'm almost positive it was a pronghorn, but I thought they wouldn't go within five miles of a human and were pretty spooky. THis one was bedded down there right in front of the camera. THere were about 5 of them there this morning.

You see them most of the time a little north of the strip. They hang out in and around that circular irrigated area.

If you like to see animals, you can pretty much be guaranteed to see those big ol mountain goats down in Hells Canyon on the sheer walls from the Hells Canyon dam and downstream on the Idaho side. Bighorn sheep closer to the river near Salmon Bar also on the Idaho side. Never seen them on the Oregon side though

Si senor, THey run right across the freeways. Hunting season should start soon. Better to shoot from the road and not have to carry them very far to your truck.

We have a Guard unit with A10s up here at Boise. I think they would be quite suitable for the job

We have the proverbial shitload of pronghorns here. You see them all over the southern part of the state. I have seen pronghorns in Boise before. When ever you go between Glens Ferry and Mtn Home in the winter you always see them.
Between Idaho Falls and Arco there a huge numbers.

OK so when I watch my hunting shows on Saturday morning and see some guide taking the host out on a pronghorn hunt on the prairie or a hundred miles from nowhere and crawling on his gut to get within 500 yards of a pronghorn that will disapear at the sound of an eyeblink they are full of it. The damn things are everywhere, including downtown Boise, and I take it are a general all around pain in the ass. Sounds like our Coyote problem here. THey're everywhere!!!!!

This thread could be close to following the flag thread to
Hot Air...

...which is sad because it started out about Pronghorns.

no pronghorns this morning. Must be pretty cold though... Sorry bout the thread veering off Zane.....Actually my first comment you quoted wasn't referring to Illegals but to the fact that the only wildlife we have here are an abundance of coyotes, and nothing near as exotic as bighorn or pronghorn or anything else horny... That didn't come out right. Well you know what I mean.

Thousands and thousands of them in Montana. We have several hundred right here in town, just like Canada Geese in the midwest.
