Old Stickers Off?

Hey Guy's - Do any of you know how to get old stickers off an airplane? Before I started trying heat, chemicals, razor blades (I did try my fingernails and that doesn't work), I thought I would ask here.

Thanks in advance for your advice!

Re: Old Stickers Off?

Try a Hair dryer. That should help them peel right off. Its safer on the paint than a heat gun. I have only used this trick on stickers that are 3 months old, older stickers might be harder.

good luck.

You might check with your local windshield shop (for cars). The one I use has some sort of spray-on chemical which allows them to remove inspection stickers from the old windshield and reapply them to the new one.

Body shop supply places have a rubber wheel that goes in a drill, some go in a dye grinder but the drill ones work better and last longer in my experience, it is kinda like a big eraser it works awesome and won't hurt the paint.

You will never remove stickers by hand again, trust me!

Worth makes the best ones not sure if they are in the US though.

"Goof Off". You can get it at any hardware store. I wouldn't use it on a fabric airplane. On a metal aircraft I would test it on a small area first. The stickers and adhesive will come right off.

Jim,

Head down to a paint supply house and get a stripe eraser. Put it in your cordless and it will peel them off in a hurry. Be careful and take your time. On one occasion I had it get into the paint a bit, but it was poorly applied paint, so I blame that more that the tool.
