One jet pushing another

Incredible story of "Pardo's Push," in which one F-4 jockey used his jet to PUSH a fellow pilot's disabled F-4 an additional 90 miles so they could bail out over less hostile territory.

Incredibly, not the first time this has happened. Another pilot did the same thing in an F-86 in Korea.

Incredible heroism and airmanship. I hope each of these men never paid for a drink for the rest of their lives.

Pardo's Push was highlighted in a JAG episode--truly an amazing aviation feat.

So you ask, "why did anyone watch JAG?" Well as a former USAF JAG, I found that it was so totally unrealistic that it was almost embarrassing--but Ms. Bell is so totally beautiful that it made up for the lack of realism. Simple, huh?

I knew about the F-86 in Korea but I didn't know about the F-4.

Now that's a story! And I thought the good old days of barnstorming tales ended with the jet age. I guess this bit of trying until you succeed proved me wrong. Thanks for sharing.

Re: One jet pushing another

Oh, this brings back memories......when Lora Lee and I traveled back to Penscola, FL in 2002 to visit my aunt and uncle. Uncle Bill, who flew the F-4's in Viet Nam & Aunt Pearl, who was in Viet Nam as CIA. He was our very own personal tour guide leading us around the National Museum of Naval Aviation and when we were looking at the displays outside the building, he told us this very same story!!! He served in the Air Force! Uncle Bill passed away this past year.
