Ordered a new set of Bush tires yesterday

Just thought I'd rub this in for you guys on AKBW's. This is the same thing I'm running but someone posted a link to them on sale so I grabbed another set just to have for whenever these ones wear out. So far in 3 years and over 500 landings they have barely even worn.

Product: Nanco N800 21x12.00-8 A/2PR Summer tires
Number of items: 2
Unit price: $ 31.80
Total: $ 121.99

No idea but the wheels are 8" lightweight Aluminum ATV wheels with Matco Calipers, rotors, and pads and the tires are also ATV sand tires so the whole package is fairly lightweight. Kitfox sold this wheel and brake combo with 20X7X8 ATV tires that had the knobbies shaved off of them in their kits for many many years.

I saw a similar set of tires (same 21x12-8 size) on a Kitfox up at Concrete last saturday. Looked pretty good, sized just right for the airplane. Hell, they'd even be pretty good for my little C150TD for soft sand.

I have a set of those tires and wheels. Actually mine are the "King fox" tires. I installed tubes in mine. Weight of one tire, wheel and tube is 13.5 pounds.

I have a total of $48 invested in the set. about 6 or 8 years ago somebody had a warehouse full of the tires and was selling them for almost nothing but the shipping cost. The total for two tires shipped was $28. I Bought an extra set of used wheels for $20 for the set. I smile every time I hear the cost of tires for certified planes. :D

We need to find the warehouse where they store the 31" versions of these. :)

Not just tires, but everything "certified" is insane. Just look at the other thread about some little sheetmetal gearbox what-nots for $6700 installed! Wow. I'm sure it's all of $50 worth of aluminum.

Why is anyone flying a "certified" plane? :?:
