As for the rocks being placed where somebody could hit them....I am thinking somebody local that hates airplane noise.

Not that the idea of placing rocks on strips to prevent use is anything new, but this reminds me about how lots of the FS roads outside of Bend (in the vicinity of single track trails), mountain bikers have been doing the same thing, to get cars and trucks off the dirt ROADS so they can enjoy them for their riding pleasure. Cars or airplanes it doesn't matter any more....

Is it not still owned by some random person in CA?

The owner has been there once or twice. He does not fly and has never owned an airport before.
I like the guy but he admits to knowing nothing about the place. Seems like an honest guy.

I talked with the owner, manager, OPA, and Oregon Depart. of Aviation last year. Nice guys. But, I don't think the airfield is a priority now. Nobody has shown much interest except me.
The owner said to use the airfield anytime even when covered with snow. ODOT says owner has last word on operations there.
So here we are... a 4000' foot airstrip next to a beautiful National Park with great weather etc etc...
BladeRunner wrote:Oppps. Didn't know it was a private field. Always thought it was public ( state owned ). Why does the sectional chart say "State"??Huh,wa, how? I've never landed there, just drove by. Certainly don't want to trespass if it is private now. Still willing to help clean up if owner/manager won't shoo me away with a 12ga.

Somebody PM me when this happens and I'll drive over with some lunch, and my work gloves.
A day working on a airport is better than sports on the dang TV. Plus, I'd like to have a face to some of the names here.
