Seems like good news in Oregon. Airplanes, boats, chainsaws etc are exemp from the ethynol requirment as a lot of you already know. The problem is to get sombody to market it.
Colvin Oil Company in Medford brought in some clear unleaded 87(as they call it) for a trial about six months ago from Portland I believe. Then it got a bit harder to get so they got some from Reno and also dedicated a much larger tank cus interest is high.
I picked up 90 gal yesterday at 3.89 and I got some more info on availability. There last batch was from Portland and it was 92 oct. It seems that Portland has 84 octane that they mix with Eth to make pump 87. They also have 92 they mix with the 84 and then Eth to make pump 92. So the gas stations get the Eth 87 and the Eth 92 and use blending pumps to give the mid grade.
Colvin said that there bigest market is aircraft use. They intend to serve that market as long as they can get the 92 octane. That should make the guys with the STC requiring higher octain Mogas happy.
