Back in the Winter 2012 I called Oregon DOT and asked if they would allow skiplanes at Beaver Marsh. DOT's determination would be based on the new owner, who said no problem.

I was planning a flight to Bend (from Burns) and noticed an amendment to BEAVER MARSH! Ski operations are OK ! This is the first airport in Oregon to publish ski info in the AF/D. I must be a powerful Politician it only took one telephone call to change the AF/D.

History was made!

That is awesome! Nice work! Too bad there is absolutely nothing to do there since I think even the market is closed now, but bring some cross country skis, a .22 and some targets and I'm sure you could have some fun

To the west of Beaver Marsh is some fantastic wilderness area with small rivers and lakes. The value of the property lies in the fact that the western side will never be developed (at least for a long time) and remains a wonderful wilderness experience

I've landed many airports on the skis, didn't know I had to ask first? Good to have it on the chart regardless.

I got a puzzled look from one of the line people at West Yellowstone this summer, when I mentioned that the last time I was there was January, as they close it down all winter. Closed to wheeled aircraft, is the way I take that. As in not staffed and maintained, no services available, not X'd out as in forbidden to land there, if there were X's there I didn't see them.

I called these guys to make friends, it worked. They are onboard! Being the inner circle feels mighty good! I may run for City Council next...
