Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

Oroville Dam

Here is a short clip of the Oroville Dam and surrounding area affected by our recent rains in No. California. This was the day before an evacuation order that caused around 200,000 people to leave the area for higher ground. Thankfully, the dam held and people are being allowed back in the area.

You're never too old to learn something stupid.

Re: Oroville Dam

Wow. Cali seems to have gone from one extreme to another in the water category, hasn't it? I'm certainly glad things held up!

Re: Oroville Dam

I flew over from Reno on Monday to have a look. Incredible amount of water coming over the spillway. Looks like the entire central valley is almost a lake. TFR in place but top is at 3000 MSL and I neither heard no saw any traffic in the area of the dam (I was at 8500).

Re: Oroville Dam

California. What a beautiful but messed up state! I've got 300 acres under water along the San Joaquin River but 5 miles away the water district tells me to expect no more than 40% of my normal water allocation due to the continuing drought. We truly are the land of fruits and nuts!
