Oh yeah, talk about some good memories. There's nothing like heel brakes in Bunny Boots at 40 below in the dark.

You're right, I never thought about that, Gump. Don't use bunny boots here in Sunny SE, just the regular issue Ketchikan Sneakers.

Insulated model in the winter.

have you considered a taylor craft you cant open the door in flight but it will do anything a small cub will do plus cruse 15 mph faster and they are about half the price.

tricycles are for little girls
I've considered a few other options, but for lack of a better excuse,
I've been bitten by the CUB bug. Just looks like so much damn fun to fly.

Get some time in one if you can, the bug wears off pretty fast.
On edit: sorry I forgot you are not talking about the J3

That's right, because an 18 with any engine is HEAPS (as in orders of magnitude) more fun to fly than a J-3 is from the back seat or slouched in the front with your knees around the fuel tank.

hey Dusty and possibly others
I just spotted a beautiful, clean/stock, PA-12 for sale at the Palo Alto A/P the other day. If I could get back what I have in my 170 I would buy it in a heartbeat. I have always wanted to upgrade to the PA-12 after several years, including a trip to AK and back in my old 85 hp J-5 with only an old Narco 830 hand held radio.
I could go get a phone # if anyone is interested.

It is better to be late in this world, than early in the next.

I figure life is like flying, "the lighter, the better". Unless your flying home from a hunting trip, then that might suck.
