I am building a T.C.O.W. Cub and was thinking of using a Sutton or Leading Edge exhaust on a 0-320. Has anyone tried either systems? Thank you for input.

Hi 96,
I have a Sutton, and really like it. It cleans up the stock "spaghetti", and drops a couple pounds in the interim. I know several folks with Smiths that are running the Sutton as well...The Lees, sounds and looks cool but adds a whole new dimension of "spaghetti" under the hood. Sutton gets away from the exhaust AD, while it is up to your IAs interpretation with the LEES. The Lees also costs right about twice as much ($3500) and I am not sure if he will cut you a break for not needing the "paper" or not?
Come to think of it if I were building a TCOW right now I probably wouldn't be spending extra on a certified exhaust. These look really nice, not sure what they cost though:

Take care, Rob

Thanks for the input Rob, it is going to be a while till I get to the firewall forward but the Sutton sounds good. Bill.

The Sutton hangs below the engine, in front of the carb? I'd go that way. A friend has the Leading Edge exhaust. He said it seems like he got some extra power, but mounted right in front of the firewall it doesn't leave much room for an oil filter, either engine- or firewall- mounted. I don't care for the way the whole exhaust system is cantilevered aft, hanging off the cylinders. Seems like it'd be a lot of stress on everything, but that's how the stock exhaust mounts too I guess. The exhaust system on my 150/150 is configured about like the Sutton, down below the engine. Seems like a good way to go.
