Sent the following letter - hope it helps in some small way:

Dear Sirs and Madam,
My name is ____________, and I have learned of a proposal to close the Pacific City Airport, through friends and fellow pilots that live in and own property in Pacific City and Portland. Although I am not a resident of Oregon, I am a frequent visitor for both business and vacation purposes. I understand that there may be budgetary pressures the the Oregon Department of Aviation is experiencing, and I wanted to reach out to you on behalf of a potentially under-represented and under-heard user group of the resource you are considering closing.
I would like to take this opportunity to point out that I routinely travel to Oregon, utilizing both commercial and private aviation means of conveyance. Local airports are a dwindling and vital link to local businesses and economies. I am not in a position to quantify the economic losses of such a move, but I would ask that you make sure and consider this carefully when making policy decisions. In addition, a network of maintained fields is critical to safety of people travelling and living in the area - from providing access to airlifts for medical emergencies, to making fuel and emergency stops a possibility for cross-country travel near the area.
I would implore you to seek to find a resolution to the budget issues that keeps the airport open to the public. This may include selling the property to private owners, but under a conservator-ship that would keep the property open indefinitely as an airfield.
Thank you for your consideration of this matter.
