Paracord survival bracelet

I was at the Duluth Pack store a few weeks ago & there was a guy in there making paracord survival bracelets. If you don't know, parachute cord 550 is nylon cord made of an outer sheath & 7 internal strands, each of which is a twisted pair of strands. Just 1 of them is stronger than you can break by hand. It has 1001 uses, fixing a shoelace, building shelter, pull it apart & make fishing line, ect... It has an overall breaking strength of 550#. It's kind of like mini kernmantle rope.

I thought it was pretty cool so I bought one, then my friends wanted them! So I bought some paracord, watched a YouTube video & started making them. The one I bought was made of 2 pieces, 1 about 18" with a knot/loop to fasten & 1 around 7 feet. Found some 1/2 plastic buckles at the store & figured out a way to make it from 1 continuous piece around 10 feet long.

Its a great way to carry ten plus feet of paracord on you just incase!! You could tie it together & make a 100' fishing line! If you have any paracord around, try making one yourself, there are several YouTube vids explaining how. If not, I'll be happy to make 'em for you guys & mail it for $5.50, just message me an address & wrist size. I've got about 10 colors now.

Re: Paracord survival bracelet

I flew with a guy last year that made me one on one of our transcons. He is a search and rescue guy from Colorado Springs when he isn't flying. He figured it was a good way to kill 5+ hours so he was making them for the crews he was flying with. It is a good way to carry some cord with you.
