I think I need to find a partner for my Maule. The engine is past TBO and at some point it'll need the big OH. Unfortunately, I don't have 20g's right now. So I need a partner. I just want a reasonably experienced person that's into backcountry flying. Where do I find a person like that?
I've been trying to get other airline pilots, so insurance would be cheap. All they wanted to know was if the panel was IFR, and what the cruise speed was. Jeez guys, it's a bushplane, why the Hell would I need dual Garmins and a PFD? I'm nearly certain Mile Hi doesn't have an ILS. We can fly anywhere in the country for free at 400kts, why does it matter if you can't fly to Burbank in less than two hours in a Maule. I'm sorry to knock my fellow pilots, but I got five or six calls and those were the first questions. That's it, five or six calls. Nobody else intrested, nobody asked the right questions.
Do you know someone? I'll accept blind dates.
Is there some pilot dating service where I can fill in a personality profile and be matched with other pilots based on twenty nine criteria designed to ensure a long lasting partnership?

Where are the lovers of simple aviation?

Did I just talk to the wrong people?

Somebody was telling me about another pilot in your airline that wanted to do the off airport thing and was looking for a plane. Can't recall right now who it was, but if it comes to me I'll drop you a line. Heard he was a 737 driver like you.

I see a lot of adds on these sites for Russian women that want relationships. Maybe a reply to them to see if they can handle something like an AN-2?

Those at work who are really INTO aviation are far and few between... I get the bugeyed look of disbelief from 90% of my co-workers when the subject of GA comes up and I admit that I am still engrossed in little airplanes. Mention backcountry ops and most airline pilots will run the other way! I took a work buddy of mine out to Fremont Island (SLC) once (benign little spot with several dirt strips for practice) and I think I really scared the hell out of him!

Airline people generally have lost touch. Most new hires don't even know what a dutch roll is... and have certainly never done one intentionally. I can't stand it when guys put their feet on the floor right after the gear is up.

Don't tell your insurance company, Speedbump, but I think you asked the wrong group of people!

It's amazing isn't it, people that have worked so hard, and sacrificed so, much to be pros, and don't really love airplanes. I'm sad to hear you see the same thing at work, but not really surprised.

Believe it or not I own a house in Boise, but there are renters in it now. Besides, Joseph is a bit of a drive. Still, a Maule should live in Idaho for at least part of it's life....very interesting.

Whre will the plane be based if you find a partner, DVT ?

I'm not locked into DVT, but I would like to keep the drive reasonable.
