Swanland used Waco's and then Barker and Bromels and Belisle used Ag Cats as did Tronsdal. (I worked for Tronsdal) The fields there are too small for a Pawnee to really do much good.

John,

I worked some really small vegetable plots in Fabens, Texas with Pawnee. Did y'all have a tall trees problem on small fields?

Sad about the round engines going away. Flyingzebra could have got an Ag Cat for the money but would have had to put more than that into the 1,000 hour engine and then feed it. Pawnee will still be around for small jobs some time yet. Especially with grain prices so low.

On the other hand if you want to carry a big load straight up a few seconds, Ag Cat is your airplane. Several have economical jet engines on them now. Hard to compete with the ferry and XC time of Rob's Thrush, however.

Pawnee could have been more accurately on the AOPA Pilot 50 year anniversary fold out ; "Now Arriving Gate 1, The Future." At least the shape.

Ag Cats are always an eye catcher during the daily coffee, BCP and Barnstormers ritual. The GPH side of things always sends me skimming on though. The 15GPH Pawnee with a MoGas STC and a sweet purchase price seems to be a fair compromise.
