Re: Pay no attention to my self home schooling

Alright Zane this is as close as I have ever got to posting a pic. I read your how to re: Mac/Firefox but but no "copy image address" noted with the right click. I used "copy image location" and this is what I got. I'm trying to get it to post like the cool dudes do it. Right out there with the with the thread w/o having to click on the url thingie..

Re: Pay no attention to my self home schooling

If you notice at the lower left corner of my screen capture pictures of the 180 engine mount, there is a penguin foot. That means Linux which is free, open source, and I don't have to buy anti virus. I use Chrome and Firefox. Funny how if I want to paste something into a post on Supercub.org, I have to use Firefox since chrome won't do it on that site. Took me awhile to figure that one out. :?

Re: Pay no attention to my self home schooling

True, it is our family 170. But I am almost more excited about learning to post a pic tonight than I am about the airplane. Anyway, wife says we got to go to town, so I'll post a bit more when we return.

Re: Pay no attention to my self home schooling

Jered, that avatar does demand a double take when I glance over it. Nice looking 172. I'm surprised we haven't crossed path's up in this area.
Rob, what are you doing up here in the NW, and where are you doing?
Well, while your stuck up here I'll give you a couple JC's. I need the practice, this uploading, moving around and attaching is pretty involved.
My kids have been talking about this throw-back Thursday stuff, and been posting pics that they refere to as back in the day, so I'll start with throw-back JC 2011 since that was my first visit.

Flew cover while Dave and Dee explored Soldier Bar. We didn't land our first year there. Left the wheel pants on for a reason. Very tempting to visit them all.

Seriously the happiest place on earth.
Well that took an hour. Better go give the wife some attention cause I'm gettin the stink eye.
Good night

Good job. You have learned to ride the bicycle, now you can do the same thing everywhere on the internet. :)

Enjoy the visit Rob, and enjoy the nice wx while your here.
Here's a little something to keep you warm while visiting.

Thanks for the sign off Zane. It was the video for idiots that can't read that did it for me. I might give video's a try later.

And Jered, you mentioned in another post about the black closed cell insulation. I've been going through the 170 with it from the baggage compartment forward for the last year now. I started with the stuff from Spruce that is provided by Super Sound Proofing in CA. It's very brittle and doesn't make a very good interior finish. I just received a batch from Selkirk and it's much more durable. I will start a thread when I get a chance of my "Build off" specimen so we little guys can keep up with the 180's. Oh and by the way, when I ripped out all the insulation 3 yrs. ago to re-do the interior, I can testify that it doesn't stay warm in the cabin during the winter, and it is VERY LOUD!! I was borrowing my friends Bose X's the other day to see if I need to get myself a pair, and I can't keep the intercom from opening up until I pull the power back. I use the old Sennheiser noise canceling head phones, and they seem to handle it better. But believe me, you pull your head set off in flight, and it is screaming in there.

Re: Pay no attention to my self home schooling

Attempting to post a video tonight, but had to bring in the teenage help.

And it seems to have worked.
That will take a bit more practice before I can solo on the vid posting.

Anyway, this is a quick clip of a before work morning flight on my birthday last summer. One of the local guys has this nice strip right in our neighborhood, and lets me land on it. It's quite fun, like a little piece of the ID backcountry. And no fancy go pro cam here. Just click play on the iphone and prop it up against the windshield and wah-law..
See ya next lesson.
Good night

Re: Pay no attention to my self home schooling

Going solo here, posting a vid at work on my lap top.
This is my first attempt at sticking the camera phone up against the windshiled, found out that gravity does prevail and my cheapo rigging only works under deceleration, not so good under acceleration. Nothing like paying attention to flying the airplane and not being distracted with the distracting gadgets.
This is a landing at the field where I used to hangar the plane. It is walking distance from my house. I miss basing there in the summer, but way to muddy and sloppy in the winter.
