Plane Missing Near Jackpot, Nevada
Debrief, share, and hopefully learn from the mistakes of others.
It is clear in Elko this morning and across Northeren Nevada so that sould make finding them easier than yesterday. There is some very rough country south east of Jackpot and also some survivable terrain. It is all very isolated as all of us who are familiar with this region know.

Altitude is Time…. Airspeed is Life!
That sucks. I've known Danny all my life and flown with him multiple times. I used to fuel up his airplanes at my dad's fbo in Rexburg.

I know the pilot and plane well, I am sure we will find it is one of those things that didn't need to happen. My list of pilots I used to know is getting very sad and long after flying for 48 years. Let's all be careful out there.

Keep the shiney side up and the dirty side down...
This a very very sad day indeed. Deepest condolances to the family and friends of both individuals. Danny was good enough to display this A-1E in Elko last year for the annual sky fair. Having someone good enough to bring a plane like this to an isloated town made a big impression on many here. It was the highlight of the event and gave many a chance to see a peice of history they would not normally have a chance to see.
With great respect and tribute; a picture from September 2010:

Word on the street is the last couple of radar tags had him coming down at about 4,500 fpm.
Maybe we'll find a wing or tail section far away from the main wreckage to explain it but prolly not. Instrument failure?
WX has been the shits around here lately.
Bummer. Ditto on the be careful.

If you're not scarin' yourself, you're not scarin' the crowd!
I think he was trying to get around the wx, which is why he was so far off course.
Something cool about him was that he didn't care if it was a big air show or not, he just wanted to be a part of it and let everyone see a cool piece of history. I flew with him a couple of times for parades and low passes for funerals. He was a very giving guy and was a big reason why I got into flying.

My contacts in Idaho all said what an exceptional fellow Danny was....nice guy, gave lots of rides and loved sharing his planes with the public.
Major bummer. Godspeed Danny
