Pleasant Valley (AZ24)

Pleasant Valley (AZ24)

The Arizona Pilots Assn. hosted a weekend at Pleasant Valley in April, 2016.

AZ24 was re-opened about 2 years ago through the co-operation between the APA, USFS, RAF and AZ Dept of Game & Fish. The local population shows up to visit with pilots and look at the planes. Everyone has a great time at this High Desert location.

The APA has a Safety Briefing available on their YouTube account.

I flew out from Northern California and met up with everyone on Saturday at Pleasant Valley. The following video summarizes the laid back and relaxing weekend.

You're never too old to learn something stupid.

Re: Pleasant Valley 24AZ

Looked nice! Thank you for the updates.

Note: Pleasant Valley is 24AZ (not AZ24).

Wow... Pleasant Valley... brings back memories. Is cranky old Roy Couliette still there with his glider school? He must be way up there in years if he's stil around. Did my "high performance" transition there in 1979, from the Blanik to the Pilatus (no not the STOL Pilatus, the aerobatic glider Pilatus :) )

Re: Pleasant Valley (AZ24)

3 posts (including the original) and three different airports being discussed… this has to be some kind of record

24AZ the one the OP made the cool video of is in Young, is a great destination. Many folks used it in 'better to as for forgiveness than permission' fashion for decades, and although I don't recall it ever being a problem I am thankful for the groups mentioned getting involved to bringing it to a legit status.

AZ 24 is a helistop for a hospital… not as fun of a stop.

Turf Soaring P48, in peoria near Lake Pleasant, has transformed many times since those days, but Roy has always been around to some extent or another. I flew and towed out of there for Roy as well 8) I think the current rendition is called Northwest Sky Sports. Another great destination, and they have been known to host a fly in or two as well

Take care, Rob

Re: Pleasant Valley (AZ24)

There are two Pleasant Valleys in AZ:

P48 - Pleasant Valley Airport (near Lake Pleasant and formerly the home of Turf Soaring). Yes, you can run into Roy there.

24AZ - Pleasant Valley Airstrip (about 70 miles to the northeast off P48)
