The Arizona Pilots Assn held a fly-in and training session at Pleasant Valley Airport on 2/12/12. Over 20 aircraft arrived for a great day of kicking tires, eating burgers and hot dogs and two training sessions.
Wayne Fischer lead a discussion on mountain flying to a full house and Preston Westmoreland’s “Desert
Survival” and “Have Plane Will Travel” videos were be presented.
The Assn had a 20' wide by 1100' long area marked off on a gravel strip for wannabees to test their bc skills and for others to practice their landing and takeoff techniques. A Squadron of Yaks gave a fly-over, the Seaplanes practiced on Pleasant Valley Lake and the rest of us had a real good day making new acquaintances.
The wx was perfect and a good time was had by everyone.
BTW: The Arizona Pilots Assn is very active getting more bc airstrips opened and the State just passed a new law including aviation as a recreational activity, i.e., reducing landowner liability.
