Has anyone been to Point Roberts in the last year or so? There was a few people trying to find info on another site, and now I am curious myself. There is apparently a good place to eat just .3 miles up the road, so it seems like a great food destination now that I know that. Of course it's out there a ways, but if nobody knows they wont go!

Anyways, if you know anything have recent pics or vids....and more importantly have some sort of contact information please let me know. Thanks!

A few years ago I sailed past there. Stopped at the marina for lunch. Good pizza at the restaurant there. A bit farther from the strip though.

Very nice grass runway. Quite long and uphill to the North.

Great restaurant a fairly short walk from the parking area.

We did a small fly in there, I think 2012, and one of they guys was from Delta, BC which is a long bow shot from the airport, but he had to go down to Bellingham and clear customs then fly back up to Pt. Roberts since that little teat of land is in the US.

Kids living in Pt. Roberts going to high school in Blaine or Bellingham have this in front of them each day: leave home, clear Canadian customs, clear US Customs...school..clear Canadian customs, clear US customs, get back home.

Landed there a few times, once with a Pitts S-1 last year. Good grass, long enough. Kind of one way landing to the north.

Kiniski's Tavern across the road, small restaurant just north. Like any Gulf Islamd.

Couple hangars there were empty so maybe rentable short term. Lots of gas stations but probably only the marina has no-ethanol.

The owner, Robin Lamb, passed away a year or two ago but he's still shown on Airnav.com as the owner. More importantly, there's a phone number listed. I'd call it and ask whoever answers about using the strip. Or just fly on up there-- Robin always had a "y'all come" policy ( that's a "southern" Canadian accent, eh!). If the grass looks short enough, land and park and see what happens. If not, turn around and go back to wherever.

Great photo! That harbor sure is a pleasing oval shape, I've been to Pt Roberts several times but never noticed that. Too low I guess. Looks like a structure (hangar or house) about 1/3 of the way down from the north end of the strip on the west side, with a taxiway out to the runway. I don't recall seeing that, but it's been several years since I was there. As I recall, owner Robin Lamb was interested in developing the place into an airpark or at least building some hangars in there (scope out the building pads down the west side of the strip), but was confounded by zoning and/or septic issues-- a familiar story to a lot of would-be builders. Unfortunately, now that Robin has passed away, it's likely that will never happen. He's still listed as owner on airnav, I'd assume that his family or heirs own the place now but I'm not sure about that.

I loved that strip.

The San Juans are one of the most beautiful palces to fly, in the country, I suspect, on a sunny day that is.

Easy strip. Wide smooth long. I would not hesitate to land a Bonanza there. Land to the north. IIRC we also took off uphill to the north because there was a strong wind from that direction. I would expect takeoff to the south usually preferred.

More importantly you are in YVR airspace which gets a bit crowded between Vancouver and Victoria.

The Canadians really don't care if you cross the border as long as you don't land. I flew all the way to Nanaimo one day and turned around and went home due to fog from Comox to Campbell River. The guys at Victoria or Canadian Customs have could cared less and since I did not officially "enter" Canada I did not have to deal with our very pleasant CBP folks on the return.
