Position light covers for a 150.
Have problems with your aircraft? Maybe just questions about how best to tune or adjust something? Regs or maintenance? Need to know the best way to do something?
Hey Guys,
Bought a set of wing tips for the 150 (From the market place here) painted them and got them on the plane. The old lights look like they will work, but the problem I have is that wing tips I put on are the older style ( I love the look!) and I am having a hard time finding the covers for the lights. Any help would be appreciated. Even the year/s of the plane they came off might help.
Tips I took off.

New ones without light.

new ones with light that I think will work if I find a cover.

Thanks,
Pete

You can buy parts from Whelen that would fit and clean it up. May want to just put LED strobes on right away. I'm sure there is another source, but I'm not sure where. Sorry.

The three hole configuration is typical, it shouldn't be hard to find the assemblies new or used. I don't know of any led wing tip strobes from whelen that are approved for installation on your aircraft though..

Is the OR650 not approved? It's PMA. I didn't think they were STC'd to specific aircraft.

I stand corrected! that assembly is actually stc'd!

a lot of times these things are pma'd but it doesn't necessarily mean its approved for installation.

Gotcha. I was planning on buying a set of these for my Citabria but then I sold it. Maybe for the 180 instead. That's he only reason I knew about them.
Sorry for the slight thread drift Pete.

I checked Spruce, both online & paper catalog, and couldn't find replacement cover/lens retainers. I'd check with a salvage outfit, or maybe someone who's upgraded to a set of piggyback wingtip strobes could sell you their old covers. BTW I think the nav light base mounts to the wingtip through the two screwholes , looks like you've got it mounted using the center screwhole which is where the retaining screw that holds on the cover goes.

Cessna Skywagon -- accept no substitute!
Thanks guys,
I am going to start looking at salvage places today. It does mount through the two screw holes. I just stuck it in there by hand to give a visual. I think worst case I could make one pretty easy. Any issues with that that anyone knows of?

From Ac20-62E
n. Owner/Operator Produced Part. Parts that were produced by an owner/operator for
installation on their own aircraft (i.e., by a certificated air carrier). An owner/operator is
considered a producer of a part, if the owner participated in controlling the design, manufacture,
or quality of the part. Participating in the design of the part can include supervising the
manufacture of the part or providing the manufacturer with the following: the design data, the
materials with which to make the part, the fabrication processes, assembly methods, or the
quality control (QC) procedures.

Found some at Dawson Aircraft. Thanks 150 STOL-ish for the year, that made all the difference. And thanks f-shaw for the parts manual.
