Possible upcoming downtime

I have some software upgrades and maintenance to perform this week that may take the forum offline for a short time (if all goes well.)

In the event that I break it and blow metal into the case, you can follow updates on Twitter: http://twitter.com/bckcountrypilot

Any idea when? I'm sure some folks on here will appreciate lining up their shrink in advance to fill in the gap!

Hope it goes well. Thanks for doing it.

I just read this thread to my wife while we are both laughing, then she says JUST GO FLYING. I think I will thanks Zzz, it doesn't take much of a reason.

Mrs. Helen Waite handles all the complaints around here, so anybody who has a complaint should just go to Helen Waite.

It's a reliable way to broadcast updates to the world when the site where we normally all connect is down. 8)

Please oh please oh please don't change things too much. I'm getting too old to learn new stuff, especially computer stuff! :)

From what I've seen, you will be very happy with the changes. You might have a slight learning curve with the new site, but BCP will bigger and better than ever. Many more hours will be indulged here (...my poor wife...).

I remember the last change. Some of us were whining and complaining :D . But got used to this one for the last forever 2-3 years :D

I can't wait.

It's like a drug dealer down on the corner promising a new out of this world drug coming soon. But here, we don't have to pay. :D

This site is my drug of choice 8)

Re: Possible upcoming downtime

Thanks for the site Zane. I'm curious why it takes about 30 seconds to get BCP to load and about the same to view different topics? When you said to heck with us awhile back and it was a free for all, it became super fast until the spammers took over and you fixed that problem. Everything else like Supecub and others is very fast for me. I'm high speed fiber optic using the newest Linux Sabayon 11.

Re: Possible upcoming downtime

We can run some tests if you like. I have no idea why it's not fast for you, it is nearly instantaneous response for me in Oregon, and I believe the data center is located in Los Angeles. These "slowness" issues are nearly always network and routing related. In a few cases, some people have been caught in IP blocks that were formerly associated with foreign countries, like China (where malicious attacks originate.)
