PPONK rpm restriction
Lycoming, Continental, Hartzell, McCauley, or any broad spectrum drive system component used on multiple type.
I was on a 182 forum and saw this post; does anybody know if this is accurate? Just curious and may affect future considerations. I tried searching and then sent an email to NorthPoint.
PPonk engine with a Hartzell Scimitar 3 blade prop: the PPonk STC states the available constant rpm as being between 2200 and 2500
I tried searching and then sent an email to NorthPoint.
Thanks

My guess is that it would be more of a question for Hartzell.

There's no way that's the correct RPM limitations for that setup. It might be the range for continuous operation.
The STC holder for that propellor on that engine/airframe is the correct source for this information, hopefully you'll hear from NorthPoint..

I have an 86" Mac 401and it is placarded to avoid continuous operation between 1850 and 2150 rpm.

I believe restriction on the 86" 401 is an RPM range at or above a certain manifold pressure, 26" IIRC. At least that what my placard says.

I looked up the RPM limits specifically in my STC and learned that it does not quite match my placard. However, this is specific to my Mac 401 prop.
