One of the interesting, but probably not terribly relevant to this particular discussion, accidents involved a Boeing 707 to be ferried from Evergreen Air Park, near Marana, AZ to Davis Monthan, where it was to be scrapped.

Plane had been completely stripped at Evergreen of everything that was useable, and wasn't absolutely necessary for the very short ferry hop (25 miles???). Also, minimum fuel for the short flight.

Apparently, there was no attitude indicator, since this would also be a VFR flight.

Pilots, very experienced with 707, pitched up to an appropriate speed for climb on takeoff, lost all visual reference with the horizon, and lost control of the plane.

Moral: Just cause it's the same type airplane you are used to, doesn't necessarily imply it will perform the same.
