Re: New C180H - The Madness Begins...

Taking advantage of the holiday weekend and am able to get a bunch of stuff into my buddies paint booth. (Aside from the wings) this should be the final painting. Shooting it tonight. Fingers crossed-

Hot damn paintings done! Shot again with UTech epoxy prime and then 3.8 base/clear. It will cook at 150 degrees for a couple more hours and then its on to assembly in the AM.

Man, that's the cleanest paint booth I've ever seen.
Congrats on getting to that point and getting it back together. Ya sure are doin a great job.I read your entire post the other day. Picked up a few good tips, thanks. I never did see how it weighed in. What did ya weigh. And I'd be curious to see what it weighs when you are done with everything.

If you want to go up, pull back on the controls. If you want to go down, pull back farther.

Still some noodling about before they go on permanently, but I got everything unmasked and test fit today. The yellow/beige is really really bothering me now... might just have to start stripping sooner than I had planned...

Get it together and fly it. Just for a little bit. Your so close. I put around 6 hours on the 180 today, something about 160mph ground speed when trying to get home to take the cub out to the gravel bar before sunset sure was nice.

Looking good, I can't wait to see it flying.

Dammit, always knew there was at least one skywagon out there nicer than mine, at least according to Scott Mauch at Beegles. Now I have to go to sleep at night knowing that soon I will be surpassed by Greg's masterpiece. Nice work.

I think you should name her 'Oh Cee Dee'.

This is coming from someone with the same disorder.

I'll say it again, this 180 is sick....... Like OCD

Re: Project: New C180H - The Madness Begins...

In solidarity of Rob's announcement of stripping his airplane... I went ahead and started stripping my wings. Right there with ya brother! =D> =D> =D>

FYI... I was able to get about 1/2 the top of one wing in 5 hrs. I figure 20hrs each wing, and another 12 or so on the elevators and flaps.

But of course! Actually, I had the Sportsman/RMD tips for the C170 but never installed them. Luckily they fit right on the 180.

You had WingX for the 170? Isn't that only STC'd in Canada?

I meant to say RMDs. Ordered the WingX last year. Paul does say however that they are close for the US approval on the 170.

Re: Project: New C180H - The Madness Begins...

I flew down to see Greg's 180 in person today and it truly is a work of art.

Every detail was extremely well thought out and meticulously executed.

You should be very proud of the craft you resurrected Greg, and I know that once completed, it will deliver you nothing but faithful service and more than a few admirers.

Thanks for giving me the tour!

Thanks Rob. It was nice to meet you. Thanks for the visit.

Installing the PPonk kit and painting the gear today. Painting the gear a silver Imron to match the polished exterior. Looks like it in the photos, but its not resting on the blocks, just lowered to the floor (just in case) Funny to see the "Low Rider Skywagon."
