Project: Crazy Daisy

I have a number of things in the works for the crazy daisy, my 1946 J3C. Here's my list:

new 29" airstreaks
ACK E-04 406 ELT with Garmin 18XLVC GPS
replace non-sealed struts with lifetime Univair sealed
11g wing tank
ram mounts for ipad and handheld radio
lithium iron battery - ultralight weight

Struts went on yesterday. ELT and 29'ers going on today... Plenty of time for LaGarita fly-in.

Still waiting for wing tank to get STC approval from FAA, which is on-site inspecting the tank builder today (biplanes).

Ah, good to see someone else spending hard earned cash on airplanes.

Please let us know where you're going to mount the ELT......photos would be great.

Re: Project: Crazy Daisy

ELT is going on a small plate made out of 2024 T3 aluminum behind the rear seat. Thanks to lesuther for the help. The plate needs a little dressing and some adell clamps then I'll drill and mount. That will now likely happen next week.

Not sure where the remote will go yet - need to figure out the wing tank on/off valve and will settle on a location after I know where that goes

Re: Project: Crazy Daisy

You are going to love those 29's :D

One thing I don't get, unless it's just a liability/keep the lawyers happy kind of thing: why the heck does ABW stamp on the sidewalls of the Airstreaks : MIN. PRESSURE 6 LBS. MAX 12 LBS. I consider 6 my MAX, actually more like 5, but spend most of my time at 3 to 4.5, and have been as low as 2lbs. 6 lbs seems awful high and doesn't provide a fraction of the cush as 4 ish. I have ignored that pressure advice from day one, how about other Airstreak users?
